Default Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

Hi Sonorelli,

I was looking at the GA-H55-USB3, but it isn't available in the UK.

I did finally get the Jetway NAF93-Q77 working, but it wasn't easy. The HD4000 graphics are still not quite QE (No youtube for example). Also the Geekbench score for my i7 3770 is WAY low at only 11,000. Can't see how others are getting 14k+

However, I am still happy. Compared to what we had before the whole system is much faster, twice the CPU power, 16Gb RAM, could fit another Accel card in to make HD3, plus the biggest boost was provided by switch to a 480Gb SSD. Pro Tools 9 HD lives out its twilight years in a 5 star TDM rest home.

As this is for a commercial studio, stability and speed are the main concerns, not minor cost, and this can run everything we can throw at it. For the moment of course...

Thanks everyone for all your help.

Moon

Glad to hear its working. You can tweak it during down time. The Gigabyte GA-H55-USB3 has been discontinued for quite some time now. The only place you could find one is eBay or similar. However, the GA-P75-D3 is readily available on Amazon for $100. I'm pretty sure there are a bunch of documented builds of Pro Tools rigs with this mobo.

Hey Moondog,

I have the same board and got it working quite well, except I can't get any of the uSB 3.0 ports to work. Can you confirm if they work on your system and if you did anything to get them going?

Thanks!
J

Guys,

I have to tell you. The JNAF93 was one of the easiest builds I've ever done.

Make sure to use an Ivy Bridge processor like a 3770 (no K series required since you can't overclock with the Q77).

You'll need Mavericks 10.9.3 or 10.9.4.
Unibeast (check out tonymacx86)

What works:
No DSDT needed for UEFI (though I may patch one later)
Install went great. Just wait for the white screen to go into install. Took 5 min.
DVI works (HDMI untested) HD4000 video works OTB
Both LAN ports work
Looks like the slow iLok problem is solved with no LAN Kexts or futzing
32 Gigs of RAM @ 1600mhz using XMP Profile
All Intel 7 series Storage SATA ports are visible

Let me know if you have questions.

Nice - who is the oem for the JNAF93 board

And you could load 10.8 if you wanted right?

Hey Dimak415,

I have the same Jetway board and just build my hackintosh (10.9.4).

I wonder what ktext you used for the second lan port (82579lm), and whether you did get the usb 3.0 ports working at 3.0 speeds or not. If yes, how did you managed that?

Default Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

I've tried installing PT 8.1.1 rather than 8.032 (or something) on my jetway running W7 Pro 64 bit, but I get a message saying that I'm missing msvcr71.dll

I can download the .dll but I'm not sure which folder it goes in - some say the syswow folder, others the System32 folder.

Any ideas?

Thanks
