I have all my gear running on balanced technical power which by design eliminates ground noise issues. So i doubt that AC line noise is the culprit here. Balanced power has historically resolved many ac and grounding issues that I used to suffer from back in the day.
You can read more here http://svconline.com/mag/avinstall_o...alanced_power/
If the fader cycle mode doesn't help, get a wrist grounding strap and attach it to a metal part of the chassis and see if it makes any difference, Balanced power is great for ground loo issues but the ground issue that might be working here relates to the way the fader caps sense the touch of your finger by reading your skin capacitance.(just try to move a fader with your fingernail).

It is simply a question of dirt. The inside of the faders was relatively clean, but it turns out the "touch track" of the fader is *extremely* sensitive to dirt. even the thinnest nanoscopic layer of dust seems to affect touch sensitivity. Once cleaned, the faders worked perfectly again.
PS: I once cleaned the faders on a Command-8 that was acting up, and the faders were WAAAAY much dirtier. I even wondered how they still had been working.
The dust cover is a great idea, I recommend it to all users.
You can contact me for detailed cleaning tips, I have painful experience.
Good luck!
I really need help with our D-command. I have one fader that lost it's touch sensitivity.
nucelar>> Can you PM me with the cleaning tips? I think that would really help!

Cheers

Hi

I know this is an ongoing issue and it has been for us with our unit but after I had tried endless fader cycle runs and cleaning with compressed air (with some but not total success) a colleague had the idea of rocking the fader caps gently from side to side (not back and forth). To my great surprise this has vastly improved things and although the odd fader drops out this "waggling" has provided a viable (and free) fix.

I think some people may have more serious issues with their faders but in our case it has sorted out a long term problem (around 8 faders on a 24 fader unit fighting, but not always the same ones).

Insultingly simple but try it. It might just work...

I had a dust cover made with little velcro tabs, and I lay this cloth over the D-Command including the meter bridge every night when I am done. This helps keep the faders clean.
:)

FWIW- I had this problem (I started this thread) and Digi tech support provided a solution that fixed the problem for good. I have not had a single problem since then. Call them.

In a nutshell, what was the solution?

Carbon faders were the fix for me. No problems since then.
