Default Vid offset in PT 11 different then PT 10

I'm just now able to make the the full move to PT 11. I Synchecked my HDX1/Intensity Pro system using Pro Res LT codecs, and PT 11.1.x shows 0 frame offset to my Samsung DLP. With PT 10.3.8, I have a 12 qf offset. Does this sound correct?

Intensity Pro is using latest drivers from BM.

My offset got way smaller with the PT11 engine too. More stable too.

Post Re: Vid offset in PT 11 different then PT 10

It does make sense. PT 11 is using the Avid Video Engine. This allows PT to have control over the whole process of video playback. The use of the QuickTime engine, which was a black box as far as playback was concerned with PT 10, no longer applies. Since the engine has changed, it makes sense that the offset would be different.

Thanks for the replies. Is it possible that ZERO offset is correct though?

I don't know about the BM cards, I've been using Avid DX interfaces and zero offset is good for the video signal but there is still latency in the display. I would expect Avid to make a similar internal compensation for any 3rd party interface they support. Are your speakers far enough away to make up the difference?

In PT 11 I am not using more than 4qt frames for any of my displays (game mode on, fancy video processing options generally off), and one of the LCDs is fast enough that speaker distance takes care of the rest.

Speakers are about 10 feet from the mix position.

Vid playback via IntensityPro is a bit too wonky in PT 11 to get stuff done. Gonna backburner this for a while and stick with PT 10 for the time being.

Actually, I found that Pro Tools 11.1, 11.1.1, and 11.1.2 require about 4 more quarter frames of Video Sync Offset than 11.0.2.

I reported this to Avid.
