Default Mic Pre - Convertor Choice

I really wish that i could A/B these in person, but I live in gear wasteland. I'm recording a Rode NTK directly into my 002. I've been reading about pres & convertors and will be spending around $1000. I'm looking at the:

Mini ME (w/convertors)
UA LA-610
Vintech X73i

This is for my basement project studio. I normally record only 1 or 2 tracks at a time & the idea of a sweet channel strip really appeals to me. Please share your thoughts & feel free to add additional choices, based on your experiences.

i've got a great river pre - which i really love. i've been using it with my 001, but i just bought a mytek converter, so i'll let you know how this combo works.

i used to work with a producer that started using my great river for his projects over his DW Fern, not saying one is better than the other, they're both awesome, but i'm pretty sure that the fern is more expensive.

Thanks for your input. Which Great River unit are you using?

ME-1NV. but if you have the cash, i'd get this pre as a two channel.

I'm runnin' the NTK into a RNP (pre amp) then into a ROSETTA 200 A/D into my 001 and it sounds great! I too am looking to upgrade my pre amp though, so I guess I'll lurk on this thread also....

If you can get another converter some place,

I would recommend Seventh Circle Audio Preamps .
It's DIY but I had no experience and I was able to do it myself.

You can get 1 rack + 1 C84 + 1PSU for $450.

This is what it sounds like;

There are spaces between different samples so make sure you play the mp3 file to the end...

Never heard of the Seventh Cirle before. Looks interesting & receiving good reviews. I enjoyed the sample, but am at work & could only listen through my laptop speakers (not the best reference). I like the idea of populating the chassis with different pre modules for a variety of options. Thanks for the input & please keep them coming.

Yes, please listen to it at home with your reference monitors.

It was no-doubt the most noticable sonic improvement for my studio...
