Default Noob with some problems

So, I built my own PC after much research here, got it up and running with little to no hassle and was able to play around with the demo session with no problems. I'm now trying to figure out recording and am having a heck of a time figuring out how to set up a track. Right now, the problem is that the input selector only allows me to choose "No input." I can't chose a device input (Mbox2, btw) or a Bus input. I feel certain I'm missing a "switch" somewhere that needs to be set. Any ideas?

I received the Mbox literally years ago as a gift. Between finishing school and starting a job, I didn't have the time or money to build a system. Finally scraped up the money, but i haven't had the scritch to upgrade yet. I plan on doing so ASAP, but i figured I'd futz around with this and learn the basics in the meantime.

Weird.I just created a stereo track, and PT is allowing me to set the input on the mono track I created earlier. Any idea why this is? Any good tutorials on setting up tracks for recording online? I've been googling furiously, but to no avail.

Thanks.

I'm on an Mbox2. Right now, I'm just running a guitar direct into the DI input. I have the DI switch set.

Clearly, I'm pretty clueless on the architecture of the system.

go to settings > i/o setup
need to know whats going on in their before can help you with missing bus's or inputs and outputs. If they are not selected or setup you will not be able to access them.

I misspoke. I can not "unlock/ uncheck" the inputs on mono tracks. however, i can chose the interface input on stereo tracks.

Thanks for the help!!!

It appears that 1-2 are set as a stereo input for the analog ins.

I need to add that I can hear the guitar in one ear, I just can't input it to mono track.
