appearance of unwanted automation breakpoints
I use a lot of automation, for effects plugins, volume, etc.
Recently I noticed that often when I write automation for something like a master bypass on a delay effect, when I go back to the clips view I discover that there are unwanted breakpoints on the volume automation lane, which I did not touch. I never automate volume till the very last stage of mixing and usually I discover these breakpoints when I try to adjust the fader in the mix window and it moves back to where it was. When I open the volume automation view sure enough there are breakpoints I did not put there. Easy enough to delete, but I'm wondering how/why this happens. dg |

Re: appearance of unwanted automation breakpoints
Hi dg ..
I have to say that i saw this thing happening on my system once time ago . In my case was a faulty Keyboard . Replaced it and the issue was gone .

Re: appearance of unwanted automation breakpoints
Thanks, Jesus. I seriously doubt that's the case here; I have a very good Logitech that's just a few months old (and this was happening occasionally before I replaced it). No big deal, just weird.

Re: appearance of unwanted automation breakpoints
What automation mode is the track set to when you automate the plugin ?
If it is "write" (and not touch or latch) : every parameter wether touched/moved or not will be written, anything at its present value, including volume. Try "latch" automation on the plugin, volume will not be affected. "Write" is dangerous.

Re: appearance of unwanted automation breakpoints
Thanks so much, Joachim--I believe that's definitely the issue because after writing automation (in write mode) that doesn't involve panning I've found that I couldn't change panning--I remember that happening recently and having no idea why. I'll use latch from now on.
