Default Which cable is better?

Should I get mogami or canare balanced cable for Studio project C1 mocirophone?
To be used with an mBox.

What does a balanced cable do?
Do they sound better?

Thanks,

James

I would highly suggest the Pro Co Lifeline mic cable. They are very high quality. Oh yes they sound a ton better. Less chance for any kind of hum. warnmer sound overall and you will have less noise problems. Never use an unbalanced if you can use a balanced cable. Unless it is the only thing. But then you should use a direct box.
Good luck

Mogami is considered the best and world standard. I have tried nearly every cable brand and I have stuck with Mogami for my entire studio.

What about Monster? Everybody seems to rave about those, but I haven't tried it.

Also, anyone ever tried Monsters "Ultimate Performance" USB cable wiyh the MBox?

billsonbob,

who's "everybody"...i'm certainly not included in that group...

Buy mogami...buy it in bulk...order the connectors, and burn your fingers with the soldering iron putting it all together...and everytime the searing pain and smell of burnt flesh ensue, think of how much you saved for the best cables in the world. If you're really cool, you'll get the purple cable.

Or if your like me and don't trust your own soldering skills there are a few people on ebay who make custom cables and you still save a ton. I just got some custom mogami cable and I could tell a huge difference from my normal crappy xlr's.

There's always one smart-aleck on every topic.

I meant that many people have told me Monster is the "the cable to have". I haven't bought into it myself. I take it by your response my scepticism is justified.
