Default Do Mac notebook give better sound than window?

And do I need 512 RAM or is 256 enough for the best sound?
How fast a CPU do I need? 2 mh enough?

Yes, of course !

Windows has a "muffled" , thin, flat and uninspiring sound. MacOS , on the other hand, is punchy, clean, colourful, dynamic and
inspires creativity.
356MB RAM yields a thin sound, 512MB gets thicker, but for the most dense and dynamic mixes use more than 512 MB RAM.

But really, operating systems have no "sound" of their own.

The more RAM you have, the more computing power you MAY be able to use (it depends on you DAE MEMORY BUFFER settings in PT LE)

And seriously; my 867Mhz TiG4, MacOS 10.2.8 with 768MB RAM and a 002R is alright for tracking and editing, but when I try PT 6.2 with Reason, Sampletank, Ableton Live and one or two softsynths AND a few insert plugs - I get a sluggish performance, out-of-sync playback and CPU too slow errors.
However, my PB model is now obsolete and you WILL get better results with the newer and faster PBs and Panther (MacOS 10.3.3).

Good luck

It depends on weather you play your notebook with sticks or mallets.

I prefer a Dell notebook and a hammer

if there are no math errors involved, the both sound the same. 1+1=10 on both systems, they only calculate binaries.

but seriously, for tweak-heads(tm), there are differencies, as much as burning the production master for different brand cd-r discs. that's because the audio is stored in the hard disk, and it comes down to drivers' error correction abilities how accurately the originally recorded audio can be read later on. we're talking about very small differencies here, and it requires a very golden ear to hear the difference.

but yes - macs sound better, and the difference is there; however it's so small a difference that hardly nobody cares.
