Can I use digi 002 as a mic pre in PA system?
Another question is
can I gain quality by getting an external pre or DAC? |

Re: Can I use digi 002 as a mic pre in PA system?
The digi 002 can function as a standalone digital mixer. Eight inputs can be used simultaneously in standalone mode. Channels 1 through 4 can use either their line inputs or the mic inputs. Channels five and six can use either the analog line inputs or a spdif input (RCA or Toslink). Channels 7 and 8 can use either the regular line inputs or the ALT-SRC input. So, on it's own, yes, it can be used as a mic pre or mixer for a PA. Will you gain any quality?...what are you working with to begin with? Is any small gain in quality worth the huge drop in number of tracks, versatility, and ease of use found in most consoles designed for live FOH use? That's for you to decide.
