Firewire vs USB has little to do with sound quality. The Mbox only has to send 2 chanels of audio in and out so the bandwidth is not an issue.
However it is widely regarded that the preamps and converters in the 002 are better than the Mbox.

Yes, besides if you check the speed of USB 2.0 it is not really that slow at all.

But the Mbox is not USB 2.0, it's 1.1. It's slow.

mbox preamps arent as great as the 002, but they're still pretty damn good, as far as the speed of usb as compared to firewire, that doesnt really matter. once a signal is converted from analog to digital do you think it matters how fast it gets to your computer?
(-: just coz the ferrari was going under the speed limit doesnt mean it wasn't a ferarri
