Hey all,

first off, thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

I'm on a Mac.

A friend of mine recorded a live show about ten years ago...most likely in PT7 or something. The audio files folder has the audio. Because it's a live show, I presume that all files start and end at the same times. So, it's just a matter of converting the SDII format files to AIFF or WAV...

Logic Pro X supports SD2.

Also you can just add .wav to end of your file.

There used to be free conversion utilities back on the real mac system.

I promptly added the extension to some of the audio files from a 2005 Pro Tools Session but alas, it didn't work

That said, I could open the files in QuickTime. After it did its conversion I could actually hear them

Anyhow, let's hope Avid see the light and add compatibility with there own Sessions, especially considering Logic X does

I'm using Logic Pro 9 or X for that.

Works perfect.

So, there's no more support for SDII files, but at least they're still providing the "AVID Time-Shift" plug-in as the default TC/E setting, possibly just about the very worst sounding time stretching plug-in of the last 15 years*. Yayyyy.(/sarcasm)

*Oh, I forgot about the original Avid TC/E plug-in, which is even worse. And still supported too.

True, but some companies are making new cards for old machines. I just bought a new servo card for my MM-1100 2". http://www.rtzaudio.com/pages/MM1200.html
But the tape lasts a long time. I am transferring tape from the early 70s and it plays fine (some require baking).

Let's hope file formats come with conversion software.
