Default Mac Mini Testing

Hey folks,
Just wondering, does anyone know when Digidesign will finish testing on the new Mac Mini?
These things look awesome and I want one!

Cheers
Joe

Hey...just a thought. Maybe you could loan your Mini to Chris Coleman's client for a few days to test on an mBox? Can you borrow an mBox?

Hey...it was just a thought....

Cool, how far have you pushed the mac mini?
If possible can you answer these questions:

What are you using your Mac Mini for besides Pro Tools?
How does it handle multi-tasking?
Have you run into any problems (audio or otherwise)?
Is there anything you wish it had?
What kind of monitor are you using with it?

Thanks a lot!

Joe

Dorian, you should just do a search for "mac mini" and read tele's other thread, he was very kind to provide a very detailed review of his experience with it.

Aw shucks, I'll do it for ya this time:

Mac Mini Arrived thread.

- edit -

Hmm, the UBB code seems to be acting up. I bumped the thread to the top of the forum just in case, but hopefully the UBB issue will resolve itself and the link will work.

You're assuming that they are testing it.
With all that they are currently dealing with it may be on hold for now.
The real good thing is it's cheaper than buying a used G4 and cheap enough that you could always find another purpose for it if it didn't work out.
Based on Tele's initial reports it offers adequate performance for a budget minded person but is far from a workhorse.
Then again you have to look at the cost savings.
I bet if Tele would have said he got 32 on the DAVEC test, we would have a huge core of testers already.
All in all the mini still has a lot of promise.

It says in the Compatibility Mac section of the Pro Tools LE stuff that they ARE testing it, starting in February. Check it out.

I thinking more along the lines of them having real things to deal with (debug) and limited resources.
