What VIs come with SE?
Can any of you SE users tell me what virtual instruments come with SE? I use LE and it comes with 4 yet AVID claims SE comes with 100! I work at a music store so I now sell SE so I want to be able to tell my customers the right info.

Re: What VIs come with SE?
Wow- you really have no business selling AVID systems.

Re: What VIs come with SE?
I sell little maudio systems that come with SE...and on the box it says nothing about Virtual instruments and no one I asked actually knew as none of us there use SE...so I'm doing my customers a favor in learning about it. Jeesch.
No insults please...seriously. I just want an answer to the question.

Re: What VIs come with SE?
Wasn't an insult- the fact is that if you are selling complex modern digital audio systems like AVID systems, then you should be a source of knowledge to your customers. There's no one at your store that has experience selling AVID systems?
I've been monitoring these forums and they are filled with tons of people looking for help because of exactly this problem. The places that they are buying their AVID systems are not experienced enough to support them before and after the sale. Most of my customers know that they can call me anytime before and after they purchase a new AVID system and get help they need to get up and running. Also if I don't know the answer to something I also have enough experience to know where to look and how to get help from AVID, and then get back to the customer with the answer. 'Music Stores' are not a very good place to purchase a complex modern digital audio system as a rule. This thread convinces me of this fact.

Re: What VIs come with SE?
We don't sell high end stuff....dude these are small plastic maudio interfaces that come with SE. Most of us are using LE or higher.....but I already said that.
PLUS I've been using LE for 10 years and I know tons about it. It was just a question. If you don't know the answer then stop lecturing and let someone else answer. Thanks.

Re: What VIs come with SE?
My post said nothing about 'high end.' Just because they are portable, and less expensive does not mean that they are less complex. I think that it requires the same level of expertise to support the 'low end' systems as it does the high end systems, and really AVID customers deserve help from a dealership who has experience with the entire range. One of the strong points of AVID systems is consistency and compatibility throughout the entire range, so that end users get nearly the same experience no matter what their budget or level of expertise. There is also the fact that a good AVID dealership can also supply the computer, and also make recommendations on computer requirements and integration of the system. It is a waste of money to buy any AVID system if it does not work right after being set up.
Sad that people are stuck spending their money in 'music stores' who have no business selling complex digital audio systems. Let the buyer beware.

Re: What VIs come with SE?
A search of Google brought me directly to this post. Wasn't hard to find and as a reseller you should be able to do those simple search. No matter what version of pro tools you're selling, you should know your ins and outs even before placing the products on the shelves.

Re: What VIs come with SE?
The PT Creative collection was Boom, Vacuum, Mini Grand and the DB-33 organ.
"The instruments are all based on the Pro Tools Creative Collection instruments that ship with Pro Tools 8 and 9. Many of these do use the Xpand2 engine." So are these sounds that use Structure Free as a player? As you can see it's pretty vague as to what these instruments are and how they are presented. Nor does it say what these instruments actually are on the box. I did searches on it even on the AVID site it does not specify what they actually are. I can't hold products from being put on shelves just because I don't know everything about what AVID presents as vague.

Re: What VIs come with SE?
That's because you didn't read the post made by avid prior to the one I linked. There is no list for what instruments there is. All you can do is open it up and look at them yourself from the pull down menu in the program.

Re: What VIs come with SE?
Actually I did read it.
"There isn't a released list of the instruments in Pro Tools SE - they can be viewed in the application from the track header." So you have to actually have SE to know what they are. No released list...C'mon seriously? So it actually isn't clear even from AVID. So glad I asked.
