I had the same problem as well and have managed to get it working.

Here's how.

1. After the installation (With its failure messages) there should be a document file 'Digidesign' in Applications.
2. Open that file
3. Click Pro Tools
4. Select Pro Tools M-Powered Essential
5. It should display an error message saying that clicking OK transfers you to a page. That page being http://www.paceap.com/ilwebdnld4.html
6. Download the .dmg for 10.6 and install it.
7. Reboot if you want to.
8. Open up Pro Tools M-Powered Essential (Make sure your hardware is connected)

And that should work.
If there's anything else, please PM me.

After installing PT Essential on my Mac (10.6.2), I went to the PACE website, downloaded and installed the latest version of interlok. I'm now able to run Pro Tools Essential 8.02 on Snow Leopard (10.6.2). However, I'm not sure yet if my installation was completed with the virtual instruments and loops. I'll test and update this post.

Could you please tell me also what method you used to get 8.02 working with Snow Leopard? I'm getting fed up with this program. Snow Leopard has been out for long enough that his should all be ironed out.

Here are the steps for installing Pro Tools M-Powered Essential on Snow Leopard 10.6.2.

1. Install software as normal. You will have to wait toward the end of the installation. It may take about 30 - 60 minutes depending on hardware before receiving an error message saying that the installation failed.

2. Once you see the error message, close the installation program.

3. Goto http://www.paceap.com/dlilpm.html and download "InterLok Pro v5.7.2 Installer".

4. Install this program.

5. Install the latest driver for your audio hardware.

6. Launch Pro Tools Essentials

Don't beat me up if this doesn't work for you. This is what I did.
