Default Best iPad for the dock?
Is there a consensus here? Should I get a mini or air or what? This iPad is going to basically just live on the dock. I'm not going to use it for anything else.

I got the iPad Pro 9.7, thinking that maybe in the future having the faster chip would be useful. But I never did an A/B comparison so, I really can't give you good advice. But if it lives in the Dock, probably don't get the mini, you want a standard size so it fills the Dock's frame.

I have an iPad Mini 2 and it works perfectly over 2.4 Ghz wifi (although I think they recommend 5Ghz) It sits in the holder very securely too.

iPad Air 2 no doubt. Not mini as its too small. IMHO of course

Anyone use an iPad 3 with the dock? I just got the dock and am trying to stuff my iPad 3 in it. It doesn't seem to fit flush on the dock. Am I doing it wrong?

I suspect you will need to make some kind of adapter or back support as the AIR models are slimmer(and the DOCK is designed for that model)

You have the ipad 3, circa 2012... First model with retina right? I have the same one and didn't notice anything odd with the way it fits in the dock, but I will look again.
