Hi, If I understand your question, you need to change the Pre-roll and Post-roll settings at the top of the Edit window. If you want to set it using Bars|Beats, then change the Main Counter to Bars|Beats.

So if I go to the start of the song (enter) I get a nice 1.2.3.4

if I go past that point I get 1.2.3.4.1.2...... and when I ment past just one bar in front of the begining of the session

I cant figure it out I have the Main trackset and high lighted bar and beats

So, if I understand correctly, you are trying to use Auto-punch to start recording on the "3" of the second measure? Your Pre-Roll should be set for 1 bar and 2 beats(should look like this 1/2/000)

I've had this problem too, even just with the count in on record. If you are right on beat one, it counts off just fine. If you move the cursor somewhere in between, like beat three, then it gets all confused and starts recording on an off beat, like 3.

I want to punch in on the 1...2...3...4...punch in....
its doing this 1...2...3...4...1...2 punch
I do not have the pre roll set or high lighted
when I go to the beginning of the session (pressing enter) it works normal 1...2...3...4 punch

I move into the time line and its doing this 1...2...3...4...1...2 punch
I cant figure it out

Read the manual(or hit youtube for some tutorials) about pre-roll. It should be adjustable to any amount of count you want. Don't forget; trashing prefs is ALWAYS worth trying for any "odd" behavior(and this sounds odd to me)

Let me know if you do figure it out because I get the same with just general recording. The session will be going fine, then all of a sudden, you hit the record button and it's 1...2...3....4...1...2...Record.

If you don't have the pre-roll set or enabled then how are you getting PT to punch in after hitting record? Do you have Count Off enabled? Maybe a screen shot of your edit window would help.
