Default Pro Tools constantly crashing while saving

Hello!

I have been having this problem for a long time but now it became completely unbearable.

Pro Tools is constantly crashing while trying to save the session. I disabled auto-save so I could have at least a couple of minutes of peace.

Crashing occurs randomly. Sometimes I can save 3-4 times, then it crashes. Sometimes it crashes about 10 times in a row even if I open the session and try to save it immediately (in both cases, with Cmd+S and "Save as...").

Crashes occur while using either digital or analog onboard output.

What has already been done:
- Memory check by Apple Hardware test (as some members mentioned "KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS" as a possible memory issue) - no problems found
- Reimporting session info into a new session
- Trying to copy the project to the internal SSD
- Changing on how many cores should PT run
- Making sure owners are ignored for the external drive
- Trashing preferences, DAE folder, volumes, plist, databases etc.
- Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

Here's an average crash report:

Hoping AVID will take a look at this, because it's a common problem in 10 AND 11. If you do a CTRL>S (typically a good idea!) while it's rendering ANYTHING, it gives a "can't save while rendering tracks" error, then an assertion error, then a handful of access violations, and corrupts the session. Workaround: Session backups OFF (crap!) and count to 5 before you do a control>S. And mine's on Windows. The fact that your MAC does it too REALLY points to a bug, not a system configuration issue.

The ONLY reason I paid ****load of money and switched to Mac was a hope that at least this way I can work with Pro Tools without problems. I was wrong.

I would see if you can get some other RAM to put into the computer and see if you still have the problem. I had a very similar problem and I put my old RAM in the computer and problem gone.

Hi

Have you tried to start a session with your main OS drive only as that WD My passport is not what one would recommend even though it's USB3. Those drives are most certain 5400 rpm or less and they could have some form of "green" power saving mgnt so i would either get something that works well with PT and make a backup of that drive and then maybe use it as a back-up at most. Not have anything to do with recording at all.

Try disconnecting that harddrive and start a new session OR import/move one of your sessions to the SSD drive and try PT with WD out of the picture,

What happens then? As you are using that for recording means it is used for saving and reading to and from so that drive might very well be a part of your issues here.

Also there is a host of stuff for optimization and trouble shooting to do aswell here
http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=300050 and make sure you do everything and everything before doing anything drastic. No bluetooth on, no network on, trashing preferences, dae folder, volumes, plist, databases etc.
Very important to do as that is almost always some sort of culprit even though you think those small things doesn't matter, do them ALL

Best Wishes
Christopher

Can you post some more crash reports. Especially any ones that may show different details in the crashed thread stack trace (in this case the sequence of calls shown in stack 0).

I hope you guys complaining about a bug have fully removed all third party plugins (AAX and RTAS in the case of Pro Tools 10) and if that did not work, leave them uninstalled and do a uninstall of Pro Tools 10 and a reinstall. It is still possible for this to be plugin related bug.

Here's another one. I see this time it could be an AAX Sonnox EQ (com.sonnox.aaxeqplugin) but it had never been a problem till now.
