Many of the stock plugs are now AAX.

Did you have a previous installation of an older version? If yes, that probably is to blame(although only a few of the plugins are already ported to the new AAX format). A change this big takes some time for everything to be rolled out, so, patience grasshopper. If you had a previous install, you may have both versions of some plugins(I had SMACK! RTAS and needed to remove it from the old plugins folder so the new version would show by default).

PT10 is a transitional product and bridges the gap between RTAS/TDM and AAX. AFAIK, when PT11 hits, it will be AAX only(but don't hold your breath on 11 showing up very soon). If you are not familiar with Russ and the Pro-Tools-Expert.com website, you might consider joining up. They have tons of tutorial videos and several free AAX plugins(the videos alone are well worth a donation)

You can only have one version of Pro Tools installed at once. You really should have run the uninstaller and selected the "clean" option before installing Pro Tools 10. If you did not do that I would uninstall everything (use the uninstaller with "clean" option). And reinstall Pro Tools 10. This will remove all plugins including third party ones, which you will need to reinstall (get teh latest versions of those plugins) but this is usually the best approach for a major upgrade.

What version of PT 10 did you get? Also if you go into the plugins folder you will be able to see which are aax and which are not.
