Which is why we should be able to get rid of the iLok key. If someone has a USB interface (sadly, some people have) and an iLok key, with a MBP that has two USB ports there is no room for USB keyboard without a hub.

Why is it sad if someone has a USB interface?

Because it's a terrible protocol for audio, subject to latency, network interrupts etc.

That would explain why sometimes my 11 Rack loses communications with my computer even though it's on a direct connect to the computer. That reminds me - the USB ports on a Mac? They're already on some sort of internal hub (at least they used to be).

Sure and I've always avoided it for this reason.

But sad? LOL

I have a 10 port Vantech that's metal & externally powered. it works perfectly on my 2013 trashcan Mac Pro. never lost a connection on anything.

This hub is the ONLY one I've found to be totally reliable. I have three of them, three systems, maxed out with ilok, drives etc. and they are rock solid. Worth the money imho.

After spending an entire day trying to re-authorize every non-iLok plugin, I'll take iLok any day. The ONLY other system that is as convenient is the Waves on USB

+1

I much prefer being responsible for the security of my iLoks rather than having to manually authorize my plugs.
