I've talked about the changes I made to the dark mode text file. Here's a screengrab with the greenish title bars and the floating title bars are in a bluish color (I had originally changed it to a salmon pink color).

Gotta agree with all the Dark Mode naysayers. It's not unusable, but kinda feels like an 80's Halloween party.

I'm good with dark mode for the most part, but that's too funny...you nailed it with the 80's Halloween party! Exactly! Black lights and all!

I worked in dark mode all afternoon. While I can’t say I found any issues, or had any difficulty distinguishing components of the UI, the midi editor WAS easier to see.

Personally I don’t use dark mode on my phone, or anywhere else. I just PREFER the classic scheme.

I think it’s good that we have a choice. I may revisit the dark side from time to time, but again, choices are good.

I think it’s a good initial offering, myself.

This already looks way better to me.

In settings for Themes, in Color where you actually set the "accent" color of windows, apparently not all apps automatically adopt the theme, you have to tick a box that reads "Titles bars and window borders." For some reason the title doesn't stay black when the app isn't in focus, I'll keep digging around but I'm guessing this is a sys pref in windows and not specific to PT.

That's all I have for now, but it's step one. The other issues probably lay within the skin text file as musicman has been playing around with, I think the border would have to be windows specific but musicman if you've found the line item for the menu bar let me know so I don't have to find that one line by line.

Thank you very much! That got the top bar and the plugin menus black. Now the only thing that looks stupid is the Mix/Edit/Midi main window bar is still light blue. Also have the blue area in the plugin menus that was mentioned above.

It’s taken a little bit of time to adjust. I did have to brighten my monitors a little, but after working awhile in it, I have to say I really like Dark Mode. For me, the biggest frustration with it is that the MIDI notes in the MIDI editor window are no longer as extreme in colors representing the various velocities as they used to be. But otherwise, I like it enough that I’ll stick with it. I do wish they wouldn’t have gone flat with the design, but it’s definitely not a deal breaker.

Wish I could have posted the screen grab in a bigger size then you'd really get to see how good it looks (to me) when tweaked.

Never paid attention to the MIDI note color versus velocity thing. Got better ways to discern that. As to flat vs 3-D? Quite frankly I don't care - I can easily work in either scheme and again it's not something that's a biggie for me.

I'm willing to bet not a lot of people pay attention to how their monitor brightness & contrast controls are set.

After a few days with dark mode I find I have less eye strain at the end of the day than with 'classic' mode.

I've given the dark mode a few chances and tried to like it but it's equally disappointing every time. It's beyond me how this "skin" can even be released as "dark mode". I'd accept it if was called "High Contrast Mode" or something like that. This just looks as weird as "inverted colors" on the iPhone. Screamingly ugly and very harsh on the eyes :)
