Default CPU spikes with Amplitube [hw/buffer size 128]

Hi

When i'm monitoring/recording a track with Amplitube i get several CPU errors, to the point that the software becomes unusable.
Even if I set my hw/buffer size to 128 i get 100% total cpu usage in the "System Usage" window.

I tried both with Amplitube 3 and 4.

My computer is a rMBP with i7 quad-core 2.8ghz, 16gb ram, 256ssd.

I'm on Pro Tools 12.8.1 and Sierra last update.

A friend of mine has the base 13" macbook pro and no experiencing this issue at all.

What can i do?

Thank you so much

I see the same thing on my quad-core i7 windows machine. I found that the Eleven plug-in was more efficient.

I just migrated to an iMac Pro so CPU power isn't an issue (right now). We should ask IK Multimedia to look into CPU usage of their AAX version.

I use Amplitube 3 and 4 and have found that making sure to optimize your system according to the Avid site works well. I also noticed that if I have the Avid click track going while tracking will sometimes cause a glitch.

It also does not play well if your Network Adapter is enabled. It will cycle looking for a connection even if it is not connected to the internet and will cause glitches while tracking. I disable mine when I'm playing with Protools.

Mine never goes above 17% on the meters and in fact just for you I tested it on 5 open tracks at the same time and it never went above 25%.

Also make sure you only have one OPEN sound card (disable on board sound) and just use whatever your guitar is plugged into and disable any other while using PT. That may cause a conflict and cause it to spike.

Hope this helps.
Tom
