Default Avid at AES and NAMM

Any predictions for new products? I think it's time for the TDM Thunderbolt box that I've been hoping for. The idea of buying cards designed 9 years ago seems a little lame at this point. The idea of running TDM from a box on any laptop using 1 wire seems like the logical next step.

new cards yes

Thunderbolt boxes will not be released until it is prevalent on the Windows machines

How about a HD Native 2 with twice the TDM/DSP computing power of HD Native.

I would not be holding my breath for anything new in TDM land. Its a very old architecture using old technology/components, that works great but changing to new DSPs is likely to to be mighty disruptive and not something Avid or its customer base really needs now. 64bit is likely to be disruptive enough and that's something that is probably needed by more users.

Those folks that want/need TDM/DSP can use the existing cards, those folks who want Thunderbolt support can plug them into an expansion chassis etc. Those folks who want the interface without TDM have HD Native. I'm not sure what there is that really needs immediate fixing here. Sure over time hopefully Thunderbolt gets traction and a packaged Thunderbold/Native solution that did not need a chassis might be useful.

Yes and announcing the future end of life of TDM/DSP hardware might also count as "exciting news"

There is a lot of software and hardware product improvements/product changes and bundles that Avid could announce that don't involve new DSP hardware.
