I run m-powered on a 2626. Here's what I know:

-No Low Latency monitoring (although there is a way around this with zero comprimise for the player or the engineer on the 2626 and the 610. It just takes a little setup and preset recall)

-Le goes down to 64 samples buffer setting, M-powered goes to 128

-No DV Toolkit or Music Production Toolkit 2 for M-powered

I know there are more things but those are the major ones for me.

some of the above info is FALSE. sheesh people, know your facts.

Pro Tools MP CAN utilize the Music Production Toolkit 2, but not the DV Toolkit.

the 2626 is probably the best interface in the digi line up under an HD system. it DOES have zero latency monitoring via the included software mixer that runs independent of pro tools.

I'm pretty sure it uses exactly the same pre-amps and A/D converters, so there ought to be no difference sound-wise..just, as you say, less I/O options.

I own both a 002R and Profire 2626 and after using the 2626 with m-powered for several months I am thinking about going back to PTLE. The main reason is performance. My experience has been that m-powered does not run nearly as well. I can't get the same total number of plugins working in a session and 96% of the time I add a plugin with m-powered playback stops which really kills the flow. With the 002R and PTLE it was reversed...the playback would almost never stop when adding plugins. The buffer difference is also 32 for PTLE vs 128 for M-powered. (On my mac anyway) The 2626 does have advantages as well (which is why I was hoping to switch to using it and selling the 002R) such as hardware monitoring (which has near-zero latency), the ability to work well with other software (which the 002R did not with software such as Logic Studio 8) and the most important for me was the dual adat inputs allowing up to 18 digital inputs. I'm really hoping future updates might get m-powered working better but by then it will probably be too late for me......hope this helps in your decision.

Kevin

hey ... Are BOTH LE and M-Powered ok on the MacBookPro. I read somewhere, no "co-existing" ... or something like that. I'd like the best of both worlds ..I plan to upgrade to the 2626 interface (well thinking about it) .. when I can afford it.
I have LE 002R and MP 1814 Firewire working fine with PT v7.1.1 w/MBP(Intel)
I know ...I know ... I'll getting version 8, soon.

WHEN I do ... I hope I can use my 2626 and my 002r .... having BOTH on the same computer. I was wondering if anyone was running both verions of ProTools - "CO-exciting" being on the same Computer??
I have to UPDATE everything OS x Leopard and to / Version PT8, to run both 8's.. Can both 8's "co-exist" on the same computer.
Thanks... for all your input!

both 7.4's exist here, i use MP and its fine as i see it, can not imagine why 8 would not.
