The new Clip Based features are so very cool. Try 'em and you'll wonder how you ever edited without them.

OK, I'm going to show my knob-ness here DTS...

I have a 2008 Mac Pro 2.1 8 core... 32 bit and will not boot to 64.. (no EFI update for it).

I have 16 gb of ram. Since PT is using the first 3, will the disk caching still utilize the remaining RAM?

Yes.

A 64bit EFI isn't necessary for a 64 bit memory address. You have a 64 bit processor and a 64 bit OS, that's all you need.

Thanks Dan... I've never really understood why Apple won't let this model update... Ah well.

It just doesn't have a 64 bit EFI, which means it can't boot into a 64 bit kernel.

What this means, is you can't install more than 128GB of RAM on your system.

A 64 bit OS on a 64 bit processor (which your Xeons are) with a 32 bit kernel is still a 64 bit OS and it still breaks the 4GB wall.

Heya Tom! Good days indeed. Looking forward to having a play with this one. Clip gain, real-time fades and caching are great for me. Though I'm certain I'll come to appreciate the rest.

It is my understanding that Record writes to disk first then cached around the Playhead.

Perhaps your right.

If that's true though... how would you be able to record in a networked setup? Would you have to record to a local disk and then cache it to the network?

Again, my understanding is that Network Storage support is just that reading functionality.
