2023.9 worked way better on Sonoma. 2023.12 is not advised at all if for whatever reason you are on Sonoma.

Mostly minor and not total show stoppers but still frustrating, like plugin windows opening on different tracks than sellected - and a few plugins custom mappings seem to be messed up with lots of unspecified parameters

Soundflow is not functional well at all sadly. Definitely avoid.

I would advise to avoid Sonoma for now for serious work.
Good post and thanks Chevron.....

Thank you kindly for your reply Marianna, and appreciate the link.

I dived in to Sonoma on a secondary studio machine as I am looking to get an M3 MBP soon

Because I was feeling crazy today, I upgraded to Sonoma. 14.2.1 is the version. I'm using PT 2023.12 on a MacStudio Ultra. So far [knocking wood] I've experienced not a single hiccup of any kind. Nothing. It's just as Ventura was (I had the latest version of that, whatever it was) but perhaps a little quicker with certain things. No surprise as a new OS nearly always injects some added snappitivity just by being new.

I went through each of my major apps and the PT plugins which I use most often. I haven't tested all 400.

It sounds like Avid has made some improvements with 2023.12, and Apple has made some improvements with 14.2.1, so perhaps I skipped over the early problems. All I can say is that it's running swimmingly here.

What works way better in 2023.9?

Many of us are running 2023.12 on latest Sonoma with mostly the spoken about here problems.

The heavy GUI lag came back with 2023.12 on 14.2.
Installed the public beta of 14.3 and now 2023.12 runs without lag again.

Just wanted to follow this thread and see how others are doing.

Sonoma wrecked havoc on my i7 Intel Mac Mini; I ended up reverting to Ventura.

I just picked up an M3 Macbook Pro but it came with Sonoma out of the box; I'm thinking I might just wait it out rather than bother with 2023.12 right now.

I’ve been using Sonoma on a 13 MacBook M1 Pro for a few weeks with Pro Tools 2023.12 and had a mixed experience. Largely doing so as a testing ground before getting an M3 MacBook Pro.

Mostly working, with some definite quirks, but I have been mixing away daily without any major show stopping issues.

In all honesty if you can wait I would and aside from Pro Tools and Eucon being a little quirky, Soundflow is largely unusable…

As I'd mentioned above, and encouraged by several more days passing without issues, Sonoma has been smooth-sailing over here. I don't know if that's typical or atypical but I'm happy it's the case and I've heard the same from others.

The latest vers of PT and Mac OS seem to be ok together. Prior version, perhaps not so much.

Hi

Just purchased the Mac Studio M2 max. Upgraded to 64gig of ram, unfortunately it came with Sonoma, and you can't install an older version of Mac OS on these computers. I am running the latest version of Protools with the most recent Mac OS update. I am using the carbon interface. This might be the best system I ever had to date very pleased !! The Mac Studio is amazing.

Protools is running great so far, but just about every time I close protools it crashes and sends a report to apple. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Thanks Tony
