12.7 Sync drift issue. PC
I have 3 PT 12.7 systems, 2 are HDX with BM and one with Focusrite Scarlett Solo and BM Studio 4K. All on PC based Z420 systems. All 3 drift out of sync after playing for half an hour. If I play with a looped sequence IE, 12 hours, the sync goes out by 3-4 seconds. Two are synced by word clock and the other is free running. Video is linked via AAF to DNXHD media on Isis 5000. Anyone else had this issue?

Re: 12.7 Sync drift issue. PC
I didn't think it was possible to sync machines via wordclock. You need timecode or MTC, AFAIK

Re: 12.7 Sync drift issue. PC
Word clock will dictate speed provided it's working properly. Timecode determines position.
Something is broken or not set up properly because this is a hardware issue.

Re: 12.7 Sync drift issue. PC
Is this the only project with sync issues ?
Same amount of drift on all three rigs ? Frame-rates ? Pull up/downs ?

12.7 Sync drift issue. PC
I been having issues with video sync on 12.7HD HDX Mac 10.9 lately
If I start 12.6.1 it's not doing it. Perhaps there is something going on. |

Re: 12.7 Sync drift issue. PC
I am having major sync drift issues as well PT 12.7.1 OS Sierra (10.12.3). I am playing back a mix that I did last week in PT12.4 (10.10.5), sync was perfect for the mix. Now, same session is drifting (audio becomes late) VERY quickly, noticeable after 15-20 secs of playback in 12.7.1. Everything indicates my system is properly clocked and locked to my Sync I/O. The sync of the QT window within Pro Tools drifts out. Also noticed a HUGE increase in video sync offset with PT 12.7 versus PT 12.4? My offset for PT 12.4 was 12qf, now my offset in 12.7 is set to 34qf. And yes, no matter where I'm at in the session, I'm in sync when I hit play, then drift occurs. Going back to 12.4 until this is addressed. Avid, any ideas on my situation? Thanks.

Re: 12.7 Sync drift issue. PC
Hey there, don't know if it helps but I remember a friend recommending to go with BM drivers 10.4.1, old and from 2015 I think.
Solved similar issues we were having on the stage we were in. Hope this helps? :-\ |

Re: 12.7 Sync drift issue. PC
Video use Frames
Audio use samples You need a Video GEN sending video ref to your Avid SYNC and then from the Video ref out of your AVID SYNC connected to your BM card (video ref in) to be perfectly locked. You can use something like http://www.rosendahl-studiotechnik.de/nanosyncs.html that send VIDEO SYNC to your AVID SYNC. At your Session setup you then choose the AVID SYNC to be the clock source, then in the SYNC Setup configure it to your need. All 3 lights should be ON. By the way we use 10 rooms with this setup, all the rooms use the BM driver 10.4.1. We have a stable offset that we checked with Syncheck (all our TV's are the same that makes even flawless the test). BE careful each TV manufacture and settings of the TV make the video offset change.
