Default Error -6097 after RealPlayer installed

I'm new to the forum and have been searching for answers on the -6097 error and RealPlayer. I run on a PowerMac G5 2.0ghz Tiger 10.4.11. I use Protools LE 7.4

I installed RealPlayer on 04/18 on my mac (G5 2.0ghz Tiger 10.4.11). Ever since this time, i get the -6097 error in Protools LE 7.4 with a Digi 002 console.

First the setup when the error occurs:
This method of Protools setup has worked fine for several years now...I've been watching DVD's on the computer using a Protools session (to take advantage of using my Waves Renaissance eq plugin). I make a stereo Aux track for the inputs with the RenEQ plug on the Aux track. I route the digital sound out the optical jack of the computer and into the Digi 002. Under Settings/Hardware in Protools, I set the optical format to 'S/PDIF' and the Clock Source to 'Optical'. Great loud digital sound and also using the Ren plug.

On Saturday I had installed RealPlayer to play back a video file. I believe I actually had Protools open at the time of install.

Now when the error occurs and when it does NOT occur:
The -6097 error now occurs whenever I set protools to the above settings synching to the optical source. I also either get no sound or sound with loud pops. If I am using protools synched to 'internal' (as in a regular playback or recording session)....no errors and no problems with protools recording or playing back tracks.

I've tried everything I can think of....
I have checked my optical and firewire cables, restarted the computer, dumped Realplayer and any files I can find that seem to remotely look suspicious from 04/18/09.
I have toggled the synch settings in Hardware, I have tried all different settings in the Playback Engine (reducing/increasing processor usage, H/W buffer size).

I am thinking that Realplayer either installed/corrupted some file or changed some system setting somewhere that is now giving me this error.

Does anyone have experience with this situation?

Have you tried trashing preferences yet, or testing from a different admin account?

Thanks for your reply. I don't have another admin account available to log in under. As for the preferences, I apologize I did not mention that detail in the initial post...I had tried that as well. I ran the Tech Support Utility from my PT LE dvd and trashed the preferences and databases. No effect on getting rid of the error.

Why don't you create a new admin account to log in under?

Just created a new admin account per your request and logged in under that account. I created a brand new Protools session and then set the synch to 'optical'.
No luck. The 6097 error popped up.

Default Re: Error -6097 after RealPlayer installed....maybe actually my IPHONE?

I got to thinking that right around this time of that day I had plugged in my iPhone 3G to the G5 via the USB. Protools was running during this time.

Now that RealPlayer is fully off my computer, I'm wondering if it was something with the iPhone/iTunes opening/Protools that caused the 6097 error. I keep thinking about the 'hotplugging a DV device while Protools running' for the initial reason for the 6097.

I've now tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. Still getting the 6097 error though.
