Trouble with automation am I a fool?

Hi,

I cant automate parameters in massive, waves bundle & basically anything which is not a avid or digidesign parameter. It allows me to enable all the parameters for automation but wont let me automate them with mouse only automates by manually writing it in the automation lane. Is there something im doing wrong im hoping its just a user bug as I really need to be able to use this to go any further with my projects.
