-9129 errors - v small session with maximum sample buffer and it wont play cpu usage at less than 10%.... Anyone knows what this error code means?...... |

Re: -9129 errors & 10.3
You need to delete all the prefs, repair permissions, then do a safe restart (hold down shift while starting up) let the mac do its thing and then restart normall
That worked for me - but then I also switched off "Wake for network access" in Energy saver Sys Prefs. That just about stopped these errors completely |

Re: -9129 errors & 10.3
Thanks for your mail
Did all that - marginal improvement. However....I already had bumped the buffer up to 1024 and it was asking for more....I gave it less and made it 512 and that particular error went away - After a couple of hours Im getting progressively more -9171 errors.....instead of -9129. I wish Avid would tell us what this refers to... Tomorrow Im going to empty my third party plug ins and re introduce them which is going to take me a fair while......If not back to lion and 10.2 |

Re: -9129 errors & 10.3
Try setting your CPUs to 1 less than half the total number. i.e 8 cores becomes use 3, 16 becomes use 7 etc.
may help but can't remember the specific errors that this cures. C |

Re: -9129 errors & 10.3
Hi
I tried that.....and it seems to have made a difference. What does one lose by using less cores? I looked at my system usage and it doesnt appear to alter much if I select 8 or 3 cores....Is that right?.... |

Re: -9129 errors & 10.3
I don't remember the specifics but it used to be the case that selecting 1 less processor was the way forward but it has now changed with multicore processors to this new scenario.
I believe it's something to do with PT not trying to flood the available cores and therefore overall system stability is improved. PT has always had very efficient processing but it has not necessarily made use of the OS' built in multithreading etc. As you see I'm very fuzzy on the specifics but if it has improved your situation with little overhead then that's a good thing right? I will try and remove some third party plugs and see if it makes a difference..... |

Re: -9129 errors & 10.3
I'm having the same trouble. Avid says it's 3rd party hardware issues (I'm using an Apogee Symphony I/O) with ProTools 10.3 and OSX 10.8.2.
Avid says they don't support 3rd party hardware and am SOL unless I switch to all Avid hardware. I'm not happy with this response. |
