Default Dead in the water

I can't get my G5 to recognize that PT is connected. My troubles started when PT was launched and I tried loading a redbook CD with some songs that I had mixed down. iTunes automatically launched and then things started getting buggy. I have rebooted the computer numerous times. If I look under apple perferences, sound protood HD doesn't exist any more. Same for Audio Midi setup. No more sign of Protools. When I launch Digi Core Manager it says not connected to HW and HW in use.

Help please.

Please start with the steps in the OS X Setup and General Troubleshooting sticky at the top of this forum, specifically the steps on trashing preferences.

You may want to look at the Help us help you thread as well.

Personally I'd not allow iTunes to start automatically. It's a bother to have to wait out its' startup when all you needed was to imports some files or whatever. Same with iDVD.

Great features for a personal computer, but for not for me on my work computer.
