Pro Tools SE + fast track mkII, no effects
Hey all.
I've been struggling with this for days so I'm really tired and frustrated and really sorry if managed to miss the solution because of it. So I bought myself M-audio Fast Track MKII which came with Pro Tools SE. Installation went fine and I was eagerly waiting to get things going. First I had the sample rate problem. I already found a way to fix it by disabling m-audio as a recording device first and then launching pro tools and after that enabling it again. It's kinda annoying but I can live with that, just saying this in case it helps solving this other problem. When m-audio is enabled I can hear the sound from my electric guitar. However, none of the effects are working. They do absolutely nothing, all I hear is my guitar's original clean tone. PT is getting a signal from my guitar though, since I can see the bars moving when playing. Just cant change the tone at all. And also I can record - I just cant hear anything, not even the start ticks and no sound when playing the recording. I have tried re-installing drivers, software etc. Tried different USB slots, running software as administrator, tried all the things mentioned in the manuals and support sites. I didn't even find anyone with this same problem. Have I totally missed something that everyone else knew? What the hell am I doing wrong? Thank you. Edit: Oh, forgot to mention that System Specs can be seen in my profile. |

Re: Pro Tools SE + fast track mkII, no effects
Pro Tools does not need to have the Fast Track selected as the default Windows playback and recording device. In fact, having it selected can cause conflicts. Go back into the Windows audio device settings and change it to anything but the Fast Track.
The reason you hear your clean guitar with no effects is because you have the direct monitor button enabled on the Fast Track. You must disable it to only hear what comes out of Pro Tools. To hear your realtime input through Pro Tools without delay, you must use a low buffer setting. Go into the settings>playback engine and set the playback buffer as low as you can without causing Pro Tools to flake out. Last, you need to make sure your I/O settings are properly configured for the Fast Track. The easy solution is to go into settings>I/O setup and delete and then default the routings on each tab. Now make sure your track routings are correct in Pro Tools and you should be good to go. Buttdialed by me & Tapatalk
