I think it has more to do with the number loaded than any particular one. I kept removing them only to have another one hang. Structure was one of them.

And yes, removong IE-8 fixed it. The only thing I haven't tried is reinstalling PT after installing IE-8. Needed to get some work done...

PT8 M-Powered on XP SP3 does not work after installing IE8. It just hangs forever while loading some plugin. Removing IE8 solves the problem, but it's no longer possible to install IE7, not even after a System restore...

PT LE 7.3.1cs7 on XP SP3

Installed IE 8...PT won't even load. Click the shortcut or even go to the .exe in Programs and the cursor spins for a few seconds and then stops and nothing happens.

I'm rolling back to the Acronis image I made just before installing IE 8 as I type. (2 different computers.)

Cheers,

Oh for Pete's sake.

When will Windows make a system that doesn't do this? I know, this isn't helpful but you'd think that by simply updating your browser wouldn't break other programs. What's worse, is that IE8 doesn't appear to offer much in the way of benefits over 7.

But for those who think it may be PACE issues, which it may - I've found that in other cases I had to completly uninstall the PACE and ILok Drivers, reboot and re install - sometimes just a simple repair doesn't do it.

My other PACE protected software had no problems so I don't think it's PACE this time.

I'm on Windows XP SP3 with IE7 (though I only use it for one very specific application; everything else goes through Firefox) and I get a similar crash every time I try to launch PT8, though my error code is 0x80000003. Must've been in some MicroSquish automatic update which "improved" my system. *Sigh*. Does anyone think doing a wipe and reinstall of PT8 will fix this?

Something to check after doing any kind of updates and then receiving "failed to initialize" error message followed by a hex code like 0xc0000005 ..

go here:
C:\Program Files\Digidesign\Pro Tools

Right-Click on this file, and choose "Properties":
protoolsle.exe

choose the "Compatibility" tab.

Make sure compatibility for Win95/Win98 or some other version has not been turned on.
