Default 003 & ADAT connections

Did a thread search & couldn't find anything... plz point me in the right direction if this has been covered before.

I'm using PT7.4 with a 003 & am looking at purchasing something like a M-Audio Profire 2626 to get an additional 8 tracks in... what is involved in connecting the 2 up?? (1 or 2 adat cbles, do I need a bnc cable for wordclock, do I need to set up wordclock & how exactly is it done????)

Cheers!!

Look at the Presonus D8 and various Firestudio units. You only need 8 mic preamps with lightpipe out(so the Profire is overkill). My vote is for the D8($399) but if money is a problem, the Behringer ADA8000($250-ish) will work as well. You only need a single lightpipe "cable" from the output of the 8 channel preamp to the input of the 003. Once you open up protools, go into the Hardware setup page and select Sync to ADAT(if you don't, you will get clicks and pops in your recordings). Next, go into the I/O setup page, click the INPUTS tab and add/enable inputs 9-16. These are the lightpipe channel inputs and you can name them whatever you like.

Thanks for the heads up albee, I noticed that the Presonus site recommends using a BNC wordclock cable ( http://www.presonus.com/media/diagra...3%20hookup.pdf ) - is this neccessary, or can I get away without one

Albee is correct, you do need to sync the devices, however the 003 shares the same clock as it's big brother in the HD systems so IMO I would suggest using the 003's internal clock. Then if you go to the I/O page select default for each of the tabs and you'll be ready to go.
