Default 10.3.7 - Avid Audio Engine Performance Boost

- Avid Audio Engine performance has been improved for HDX, HD Native and HD Native Thunderbolt. (Mac OS X 10.8.4 or higher required).

How significant is the performance enhanced? Everything has been working beautifully, but I might finally upgrade from 10.6.8 to 10.8.4 if the boost is noticeable.

Where is this performance boost mentioned? For 10.3.7?

This is directly from the PT 10.3.7 Notes:

- Avid Audio Engine performance has been improved for HDX, HD Native and HD Native Thunderbolt. (Mac OS X 10.8.4 or higher required).

I may be imposing my greed by interpreting 'performance has been improved' to mean that the Audio Engine is more CPU efficient when it just means that the engine is more reliable though.

PT is really now very much faster using 10.8.4 so perhaps Avid/Apple have co-operated here. It was first noticeable with PT11 (better with 10.8.4 compared to 10.8.3) and now with 10.3.7 update, PT10 got some love too :)

Apple fixed something in 10.8.4 (sandboxing) that helps PT out.

I don't believe this is related to the improved efficiency of the new AAE in 11 though.

Good to know! I'll consider going to 10.8.4 to see. Thanks!
