I don't know what the difference is between the NC series and NW, but the HP NC8430 is working just fine as well.

What interface are you using? Firewire or USB?
NC seems to be a little better for your wallet...

Firebox firewire for Nuendo.
And an M-Audio USB Transit for PT's.

I see you are using M-Powered with an M-Audio Transit USB interface. USB interfaces seem to be compatible with more systems. The issue many notebook users have is with firewire. So you can confirm that the notebook you're using is working fine with USB but not necessarily firewire interfaces for Protools. The Digidesign certified systems are certified with firewire also.

I'm not saying it wont work. I'm just clarify that it has not been certified on firewire interfaces. I wouldn't want someone buying the notebook thinking it will work fine with a firewire interface and protools and then running into problems.

I had tons of problems with my firewire interface on the Dell I had originally ordered.
All the problems dissappeared when I got the HP.
I'll see if I can find someone with a Firewire PT's interface.

So, the firewire seems to be the issue here.

I think both HP NC and NW use the same chipset: Mobile™ Intel® 945PM Express

--> is the firewire built in to that chipset? Or is it independent? If it is independent is there any possible way to find out if NC and NW have the same firewire?

I know that the chipset is not the same as motherboard... so, what motherboards these HP laptops use? Or is it that laptops don't have the same kind of motherboards as desktops?

That HP NC sure looks like an interesting laptop to me.

The NC8430 uses the Texas Instrumtents chipset.
And they're $1,679 brand new from HP, with the WSXGA+ screen
This includes the 3 year warranty.

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en...7-3254487.html

There's a guy on EBay sellign a bunch of them in Factory boxes.
But he's asking $50,- more than what HP is selling them for.

You coud try emailing him to see if he'll drop his price.
You'll still have the 3 year warranty.

So Henchman, Any luck getting a firewire Digi interface (002/002R/MBox2Pro) to test yet?

Can someone explain to me why the Acer Aspire Dual Core2 Duo can't work with MBox2 Mini??
Is it a matter from Acer or Digidesign?
I would thank if someone can explai clearly why does that happen.
Thanks,
J
