Default how can i get these drum sounds

i'm trying to get that classic phil collins drum sound. another example would be on the new third eye blind recording. the chorus of the song called "deep inside of you" has these drum sounds also.

my question is, what settings on what plugins will achieve a sound similar to the one i have mentioned.

thanks in advance

beau

They used a lot of the AMS RMX16 unit on those records. The NonLin2 setting was the most popular.

The closest PlugIn to that piece of hardware is the D-Verb.

Are you after the sound source, or processing technique? Most of the Phil Collins records I've heard use a Roland TR808 drum machine--you should be able to get samples of this from a good drum machine sample CD (the sample cell cds have some nice ones).

Cheers, Marc.

I just remembered what else was popular back then.....mixing in triggered Simmons Kit toms with the real toms. The real toms provided the 'smack' and the Simmons toms provided the deep 'oooo' and slight bend on the pitch.

If you search the web I am sure you can find some samples of these somewhere.

Add a bit of D-Verb on nonlin mode (far right button) and you should be pretty much there.

Phil Collins is a major gated reverb man,
Try different large room efx in combo with
a fast gate like the Drawmer plugin, ect..
