Default Delay when Mix knob is in use! Please help!

Hi everyone.
I have a Mbox Mini 2 on WinXP. I recorded one instrument in an instrument track. When I try to record my voice or the second instrument(while listening to the first track) I get an annoying delay. If I turn my Mix knob all the way down, I kill the delay and I also get no sound from the previsouly recorded instrument. The only think I can hear is the signal from the live instrument/mic . I would like to be able to record my voice or instrument while listening to the first recorded track(so my recording will be syncronized) w/o the delay. Is there a way around it?
Thanks so much!
Daubian

Mute the track you are recording to.

Yes, the mute button only mutes the output of the track, not the input, so it will still record. You would continue monitoring the live input by using the mix knob (set halfway).
