Default Merging clips together

Often, I will record certain segments of a song separately in the same track. However, even with the timing right, when I'm playing back the tracks, I often get a multisecond break of silence in between the recorded clips, making things sound fragmented. So, I'm wondering to save sanity, and make life easier, how to merge clips together into one so they flow smoothly. And as an answer in advance, I am such a perfectionist that even fret buzz gives me the obligation to redo the take, so I tend to record takes individually then piece them together (so, this acts ass the answer to, "Why Don't You Record It Altogether?" Also, my nerves will not stop to take one breath when recording).

If someone can direct me in how to merge tracks together, that'd be great.
Thanks,
UL

Unsure of any firmware or drivers. Cannot find that information. Sandra reports take too long to complete, and time is a priority here.

i suggest you use crossfades and zoom in to search for the best place for it. once everything sounds seamless you can consolidate the clips (=merge), but it should already sound seamless when crossfaded properly.

Yep. Consolidate first and then remove unwanted clips from the clip list.

(there's a dropdown menu item "select unused" which selects everything not used in your mix. then "clear" lets you choose whether you want to just get rid of the clips in the clip menu or delete the file from the system altogether)
