Default older Mac, new Behringer BCF2000

I am trying to help a friend set up an older Mac to use with a BCF2000.

MacBook (from 2011, I think)
OS X 10.6.8
Pro Tools 8
Interface: M-Audio ProFire Lightbridge
The BCF2000 is brand new, ver 1.10

Pro Tools does seem to recognize the BCF2000. It is listed under Setup-Midi Devices. The problem is, however, when I go to Setup-Preferences, there is no option for the BCF2000, the only option is "none".

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I may be wrong, but I think you are in the wrong place to setup the unit. Go into Peripherals>Midi Controllers and enable it as a HUI device

this is the ticket, also, make sure you're running the BCF2000 in HUI mode. this is done by powering the unit on with either the 4th or 5th top most button pressed until the unit says "HUI". Don't recall at the moment which button. One is HUI, the other is mackie control for Sonar.

another consideration is making sure the BCF's MIDI mode is correct. I had trouble with mine using their native USB mode and ended up needing to change to wired MIDI and external MIDI interfaces.

lastly, don't try to use this as a controller + MIDI interface. In spite of there being a mode that supports it, most reports I've seen from folks trying it are not positive.
