Glitch-like sounds when recording in PT12
I'm using PT12, Antelope Orion 32 USB, MacPro 2016, UAD Thunderbolt.
While recording, I sometimes get this weird digital ringing-distortion. It only happens while recording and the glitchy sound gets recorded. I suspect it's because of the USB connection and clocking? Quitting and restarting protools is the only way to fix it but it happens again in 10-15 minutes. It's a BIG problem since i record lots of live music. Same problem with 44.1 - 48 - 96K recording. Mac sound output is disabled, doesn't make a difference. Buffer size doesn't matter. Tried turning off wifi and bluetooth, same problem. Used a different USB port and cable, same problem. I have read some older posts with similar problems but no solutions. Appreciate any kind of help. Thank you all. it's killing me right now. Ozan |

Re: Glitch-like sounds when recording in PT12
It kind of sounds like a clocking problem but It's hard to tell what you're doing from your post. How many tracks are you recording simultaneously? UAD Thunderbolt what? Is the UAD thunderbolt another audio interface? What is your clock master? Is the sync properly configured on all of the devices?

Quote:
UAD Quad Thunderbolt is just the dsp unit and it doesn't get used while recording but i just wrote it because it's part of what's connected to the MacPro. Disconnecting the dsp box doesn't change anything, same thing happens. The only audio interface connected is the Antelope and no external clock is used. Yes it sounds like a clocking problem but Antelope is on it's internal clock and it looks like it works ok with pro tools - it's always synchronized and i never get error messages. In fact the only problem is when i'm recording, starts after 10-15 minutes. If i'm not recording, everything works perfect. |

Re: Glitch-like sounds when recording in PT12
Could you post a short audio sample of the noise? maybe it is something someone has heard before and they will know what it is.
Disk access problem or hardware problem with the hard disk? What disk are you recording to? Is this a setup that has worked well in the past or is this a new setup?

Re: Glitch-like sounds when recording in PT12
Hey Ozan, did you ever find a solution to this problem? I'm having random glitches w/ a Focusrite Clarett 2Pre Thunderbolt interface and PT 12.5. Would love some ideas of things to try for a fix... An audio example of the problem you had would be helpful as well, to see if it's a similar-sounding problem.
Thanks! Brian |

He never responded to my post and that was 8 months ago. I don't think he gets on here much.

Re: Glitch-like sounds when recording in PT12
Hey guys, sorry for responding so late. The new driver from Antelope just fixed that a few days ago. I had the problem since i posted here but with the new driver it works great. My miserable days are gone now.
