Default Mbox 2 mini, input problem

Hello, I recently bought an mbox mini with protools le 8. I watch the tutorial DVD, but encountered a problem when I tried recording from my mic.

The audio level in the mix window is pegged. I tried adjusting all volume levels to fix it, but nothing works. I tried recording with it anyway, but I hear nothing, and I'm not seeing anything in the edit window.

Then I tried removing the mic plug, plugging in an electric guitar, and I get the same problem.

I've entered the correct inputs on the track, and have watched the tutorial video well over 7 times trying to make this work.

We would need to know more information to be able to assist you;

How do you have everything connected? What are you using to monitor the mini? (headphones? which ones and where are they plugged in? Speakers/monitors? which ones and where are they plugged in?) Which microphone specifically? (brand/model)

How is your session setup? Single audio track? To what values are the inputs and outputs set?

Constant level "pegging" is definitely a problem and not normal if you have set everything up correctly.

The basics are pretty much exactly as described in the video:
  • new session
  • New audio track
  • set audio track input to the input you desire to record from
  • plug your mic into the same input
  • set 48v switch accordingly (if you need it for your mic, turn it on, if not, leave it off)
  • set level on the mini accordingly
  • record arm the track
That's pretty much it.

And if you are new to Mboxes, turn the MIX knob to the middle to start.

I'm hopping on this thread since albee1952 mentioned the mix knob. I noticed that when I turn my mix know all the way to the left, there is no audio. So I don't turn it all the way, but then I have to turn up the volume to hear anything. What am I doing wrong?
