Default ProControl and G5 question

Hi All-

Has anyone moved from using a G4 to a G5 with ProControl / HD?
I am getting set to do this, but I was curious if there were obvious performance enhancements or if there were problems that I should expect-

Please do not respond if you do not have first hand experience in this- I have no interest in switching to Nuendo, moving to Canada or painting my house plaid-

cheers!

dr sound is using 2.5ghz G5's with Control 24's at the Dub Stage I believe. Maybe he'll chime in with his experiences. I think everything is going well over there.

recently moved from mix plus + g4 to HD accel 3 and g5.

when firing up the new rig and procontrol (32 channels) for the first time, the software asked to update the procontrol software. i said yes and have been experiencing the "protools has lost communication with procontrol <insert fader pack # here>" ever since.

haven't heard of a fix for it yet but wanted to pass that off to you.

-luck! scott

Hi Charles,

I'm using a G5 with Pro-Control, HD2 Accel and have no problem, even though the set-up is quite complex, is still not crashing on me so far... We have a 1Gigabit router, which also connects to a 100 Base-T router, where the ProControl is connected, and I have to say it's very smooth...

I'm still trying to figure out though on how to make the PC be aware of Stereo tracks for the panning, cause so far the only thing it sees on stereo tracks, is the left pan... I also have to say that I am quite new user on ProControl but not new on ProTools...

Go ahead and switch!

Cheers,

Hassan.

Just did my very first session today with the G5 Dual 2GHZ , Procontrol & 2 fader packs with Software 6.7. Went flawlessly! No problems at all here.
