Sorry, what I meant to ask. Is there are region created everytime you try to record a take on a track. The region list is down the right hand side of the screen. Everytime you record a "take" it should add to the region list. Is that happening and if so, are empty regions being created, i.e. regions with no wave representation in them.

Sorry I read my previous note... I meant the right hand side of the screen.

That's a really good question. We've been assuming you've been trying to record to an audio track, because that's where audio gets recorded, but everything you describe does sound like the way an instrument track would behave. Make sure that the track you create to record on is an audio track.

I was assuming an audio track because audio could be dragged and dropped to it and it worked... somewhere back up the thread....

Based on your screenshot (very good suggestion by the way) It looks like you are trying to record audio to an instrument track which is not possible. (Instrument tracks are reserved for passing virtual instruments' audio) I see earlier in the string you even mentioned "instrument track".

You can create an AUDIO track (Track menu-> NEW-> Audio track) and follow the previous suggestions (record enable a track, verify the inputs and outputs etc..)

Please re-visit your manual (under the HELP menu) for detailed recording instructions.

That should get you started...
