ATA drive as fast as UWSCSI?
It shouldn't be so. But when I got my G4 a also got a 60 gig internal Maxtor HD for storage/backup. It's only 5000 RPM and has a seek time of over 9ms.
BUT: Just for kicks, I tried launching a large song from it. Over 50 tracks, and it worked fine. Disk buffers are all small (512k Mac and DAE setting 2). Could probably get more tracks by increasing these, but I haven't had a problem yet. I've been working from this drive for over a week, and all's fine. Now I'm not even loading songs to the SCSI drive at all. Anyone else doing anything similar? Why is SCSI "required" by Digi? --JohnO
