Default so what's the secret to PT 9?

9 gigs of Ram, quad processor Mac,...4 separate HD's for streaming samples/audio/system.
Apogee Ensemble

Buffer set @ 1024,...PT 9 won't run simple projects with less than a dozen audio tracks, 1 drum VI, 1 Bass VI and 3 reverb effect set as sends.

Pop up ever 10 seconds,..."can't run raise buffer" type of message.

it really seems like some kind of cruel joke this pro app.

shame because it's cool software,.but it really makes me wonder how people deal with this.

I can use either Cubase 6 or Logic 9 runnning projects way bigger than this....

so,.I know what you're thinking...

"do it then"

I do.

If it weren't next to impossible to sell it, I would.

10.6.7
Trillian single bass track no multi. Either BFD2/superior drummer/native instruments abbey rd drums. Any of them do this.
2 altiverbs

And about 6 audio tracks
Project @ 24 bit/ 44.1

About a year ago when I started using PT. I got the one time setup help
This did no good, in fact, the tech had no ideas

Got some help by reading here.

Dropped processors to"3" and raised the setup to "99%"
in proc. That helped somewhat
Forgive the vague description, I'm not in the studio.

For this reason. It's kept me from getting to actually USE pt 9
Rather than just troubleshoot and close it, forget it and open Logic

Thx again

You need to be 1000% sure that all of your third party plugins are compatible with the OS and Pro Tools version you are using. Check the Avid plugin compatibility chart and the manufacturers site.

This is typical behaviour of a rogue plug, even if it is being not used in a session an out of date plugin can still cause this type of behaviour.

yes,..thanks,...weird thing is,..let's face it.

most, plugin makers test PT first because of its popularity,..I use just the mainstream ones. and they are all compatico....

waves, psp, URS, sonalksis, audioease....that's it.

even though they weren't really used in the project.

thank you very much guys for the input.

Have you set up "minus one processor"?

Meaning, if you have a 4 processors - set number of RTAS processors to 3.

well this is good news,..seems that according to Waves website version 6 isn't in the compatible list. I have a bunch of Waves 6 plugins.
The waves rip off plan isn't in the budget until they work with my 64 bit hosts as well.
