I just noticed that too. Too bad they say it is NOT compatible with Snow Leopard.

Yeah, their timing on this release is going to cause some people to have a fit.

Yeah. It would give the impression that they were focusing their efforts on building a version for Leopard rather than the more important version for the now released Snow Leopard. Perhaps a statement as to what "is" or "is not" working in PT8 with Snow Leopard would be good. The silence is deafening.

Apple released Snow ahead of schedule... so it makes sense that developers could perhaps be caught off guard. I've seen a few announcements from companies that their Snow driver updates will be available in a few weeks...

While I agree, has Digi ever been caught "on guard?" I don't mean to bash Digi, but just once, I'd like to see them be ready for an OS update when it is released. They claim to be working closely with Apple or Microsoft on the OS updates but from an uninformed public perspective (uninformed because Digidesign is not informing us), it appears like they get the updated OS the same day as the public and then need to be silent while scrambling to get the update out. I'm sure this is not the case, but sometimes a slow response creates a certain perception.

Personally I prefer that Digi have a chance to test their release with the testers using the release version of the latest OS

I wouldn't jump on Digi about Snow Leopard just yet. It seems Apple's first effort is quite buggy.

Also there are LOTS of PT users who don't install every incremental update put out. They want stability, which is what this update is apparently bolstering.

I suspect SL has some things to flush out first before Digi puts their "ready for prime time" version of PT out.

I can wait...

Again...I have to agree with you. But...but...okay, I'll shut up already. Digi pretty much has to do it this way otherwise they could be wasting their effort coding to an OS that isn't what Apple or Microsoft finally releases. Your're right again.

My Mac Pro came with 10.5.5 and I installed PT8, haven't updated either since then. I ordered SL but won't install it until I feel I need to.

Not much of a need to install SL until I get some 64 bit programs.
