digi 002 compatibility in 001
hello, i'm going to be working on some sessions recorded on a digi 002. i have the digi 001. are there any compatibility issues that i should be aware of? i know the new version of pro tools operates in OS X and i'm running OS 9.2.1. i assume, however, that i'll be able to open the 002 sessions and not have any problems. correct me if i'm wrong.

Re: digi 002 compatibility in 001
no probs, unless your 002 session is higher than 48K/24bit.

Re: digi 002 compatibility in 001
Since you are running in OS9, you're obviously running PTle 5.2.1 or earlier. You cannot open PT6 sessions, which is what the 002 will be running, however PT6 has the option to save sessions as PT5, whcih, if you do, you wil be abel to open fine.
Be advised that any plugins used in the PT6 session that you do not have on your PT5 system will not be available, and vice versa. |

I'm not sure that Where's info is correct on this one. I was actually amazed at this fact of no special saving required, but very happy about it! |

Re: digi 002 compatibility in 001
A PT6 session will NOT open in PT5. PT 5 is not forward compatible. I think you've probably saved the session as a PT5 session, or ti was originally a PT5 session. think about it, how could something written a couple years ago understand something written within the last year.
In PT6 you can open previous version PT sessions, and you can save as previous versions as well. |

Re: digi 002 compatibility in 001
We open PT 6 sessions in PT 5 (and vice-versa) all the time w/o any special saving. It's, after all, still a PT session document. I will double check this tomorrow just to be sure no special saving was going on, but I'm 99.9% positive that there wasn't.

Re: digi 002 compatibility in 001
Ive opened PT6 session in OS9 & PT5 sessions in OSX on a dual boot G4 without doing any "Save Session Copy In"
Save Session Copy In "Latest" appears to be 5.1 AND 6.x If you Save Session Copy In "PT5.0" format from a Pt6 session, you lose stereo tracks and stereo plugs. So you have to split your tracks to mono before saving. |
