NEED ADVICE: Pro Tools 8 / MacBook Pro / Magma Thunderbolt
Hi all,
I'm going to Europe for 6 months to a year and am putting together a lean mobile rig for recording. What I'm considering is buying a 15" MacBook Pro, the 3 slot PCI-e Magma Thunderbolt chassis for my HD2 accel cards, and running Pro Tools 8 (which is what I'm using on my Mac Pro here at my studio). Of course my fear is having an unstable rig. Anyone out there have any experience with this type of rig??? Would love to hear from you and get any advice. Thanks in advance.

Re: NEED ADVICE: Pro Tools 8 / MacBook Pro / Magma Thunderbolt
There's a couple of problems with that.
1. For software, you need PT 10.1 to even recognize Thunderbolt. 2. I'm pretty sure the Magma, and other chassis solutions, will not work with the TDM cards, only HDX and HD Native. |
