OK, this might sound strange, but I have just started PT in "Windows XP" compatibility mode (I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit), pushed REC and... ta-da! There it is, the waveform during REC mode! Now this is a little annoying since, everytime I start PT, the Aero things get turned off, I really don't like this, but it seems to be the only solution so far.

Sounds like you might not be running PT as administrator then...

I had some weird MIDI issues after a reformat that turned out to be caused by me not starting it in administrator mode.

You need 8.0.4 as a minimum to run Pro Tools on Windows 7. No version below 8.0.4 is supported or recommended. It is also recommended to "Run As Adminsitrator" and turn off "Desktop Composition". There are many other recommeded optimizations for Windows 7 and they can be found in the Avid Knowledgebase. Links are in the PT LE For Windows Forum under the General Troubleshooting thread. Your main issue to start with is trying to run an unsupported version.

Cheers,

@ckeron Yeah, that seems to be part of the problem. But running in Windows XP mode seems to solve that. Oh Lord, I better get used to it...

@The Weed I'm in the process of upgrading my PT. Perhaps I'll jump straight to 9.
