Default Waves Vocal Bundle 1.1 - PT7 compato - available

I just heard from Waves that Vocal Bundle 1.1 is now available for downloading... PT7 compato, says tech support.

I just installed it, and we'll see... I'll report back if I encounter any problems.

Hi,

I see waveshell 5.3 and 5.0.3 are now available for 7 to replace 5.2 and 5.0.1

We offer this compatibility update to all Waves users covered by Waves Update Plan. This update enables you to use Waves V5 Plug-ins under Pro Tools 7 with enhanced functionality.

• Enhanced efficiency resulting in increased RTAS plug-in counts.
• Automatic conversion of HTDM inserts to RTAS inserts.
• Support for 1 or 2 RTAS processors on Dual CPU computers.

Chris

Well, it works great now. 1 or 2 processors. Even works with relatively low buffer settings.

Unfortunately, there's still one design flaw that may keep me from using it:

You can't have the conductor track enabled with any tempo changes.

Yeah... almost makes it unuseable for most of the work I do... there's ALWAYS a conductor track of some kind... if I'm lucky, there are no vocals that need tuning over a tempo change... but if I'm not lucky, the workaround:

1. Bounce a music referrence, on a "sample" based track... make sure vocal track is on a sample based track;
2. Turn off conductor track
3. Work with Tune until satisfied.
4. Bounce tuned vocal to sample based track
5. disable source vocal track
6. Turn on conductor
7. Mute/disable reference track.

But what if I'm not ready to bounce the vocal? What if I just want to see if it's possible?

I sent an email to Waves...

Am I the only one who uses a conductor track? Is it just me? Am I over-reacting here? Is there a better workaround?

PS - Waves support emailed me and advised me that they are working on a solution so that the conductor track and tempo changes are no longer an issue. In their words, "We are aware and motivated to make a fix for this issue a.s.a.p."

This sounds promising! At least that doesn't sound like a permanent, engineering brick wall. I have confidence we'll see this fixed soon.

For everyone who beats up Waves -- I gotta say their tech support is professional, fast response time (less than 4 hours, typically), and makes me feel I am getting value for the cost of the product(s). Maybe, sometimes, you get what you pay for?
